The Eco Resort RUC - Fazenda Engenho Cordeiro was founded at 1867 in Pernambuco; it`s located in the transition area between the humid coastal forest (Mata Atlantica) and the dry tableland in the interior of the state (Agreste). Production and processing of sugar cane and bringing one’s own sugar to market was the main aim at that time, as well as breeding cattle of the common „Taurino“ bred, originating from the Iberian Peninsula.
Later on a more resistant Zebu bovine race from India has been introduced into the area, which adapted very well to the climate. For many years Fazenda Engenho Cordeiro`s grassland was dominated by the reddish brown „Indobrasil“ bred.
From 1972 on, already during the administration of the current owner, cattle of „Nelore Mocho“ bred and shorthair sheeps of „Santa Inês“ bred are breeded; both do very well with the Northeastern climate. Since that all Fazenda Engenho Cordeiro lifestock is commercialized by the RUC trademark as well.
Supplementary we do have a group of „Appaloosa“ saddle horses for service purposes and some „Mangalarga Marchador“, the famous Brazilian gaited horses, for leisure and sport activities.
Fazenda Engenho Cordeiro permanently keeps on stock a number of excellent RUC-lifestock of „Nelore Mocho“ cattle, (calfs and heifers), „Santa Inês“ sheep and „Mangalarga Marchador“ horses. These animals are on offer to customers, which will have an option of purchasing or partnership.
